Curbside chipping service is provided by the City of Avon throughout the year on a call-in basis. The Street Department will usually make their rounds on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, as needed. Please keep the following in mind when preparing branches for chipping:

✔  Branches should be placed in one direction on the tree lawn for pick up.

Do not tie branches together into bundles.

✔  Branches should be manageable in length and no larger than 6" in diameter.

✔  We do not pick up root balls from trees/shrubs for they tend to jam and/or damage the chipper.

✔  We do not pick up tall ornamental grass.

✔  Tall ornamental grass can be bound together in manageable bundles and placed on the tree lawn for bulk trash pick-up.

✔  DO NOT mix in any leaves, branches with poison ivy, metal, plywood or other debris with your branch pile, or your pile will         NOT be picked up.

✔  Crews usually get through the chipping list in a one-week period, however, if there are a significant number of branches out due to recent storm damage, it can take up to two weeks for chipping services.

✔  The Service Department does not prioritize by pile size. The crew will follow a route that covers all the locations on their list.

During leaf season (the end of October through the first week of December), please refrain from putting branches on your tree lawn. During this period, chippers are removed from city trucks and leaf vacs are installed.

✔  Christmas trees will be picked up from the tree lawns after the first week in January until the end of January. Please call the Service Department at 440-937-5729 to be added to the list for pickup.
