K9 Unit

The K9 Unit is part of the Avon Police Department’s Special Operations Division and consists of three officers and three police dogs. 

The handlers and their dogs are trained in the following areas:  

  • Tracking (human scent)
  • Building, article, evidence and area searches
  • Obedience
  • Handler protection
  • Criminal apprehension
  • Narcotics detection 
  • Community policing
