A Message From the Chief
The Avon Fire Department strives to exceed the expectations of our community. In recent years it is probably more accurate to describe the Fire Department as a “All Hazards Department or a Life Safety Service” as opposed to just a fire department. More and more of our time, energy and resources are spent away from the traditional reactive responses of fire, and instead on a proactive approach. Our main emphasis is to promote the protection of lives, property, and the environment.
Of course, the Department continues to provide the traditional services such as fire suppression and extinguishment, but in today’s changing world our “All Hazards” approach involves; emergency medical services at an advanced life support level, hazardous material abatement, vehicle entrapment and extrication, and specialty rescue responses ( including water rescue, collapse and trench rescue) on a city and county wide level. The department also provides, life safety inspections, Fire prevention, fire investigation, care seat installation for residence, and CPR classes and equally important public education.
Our role is directed at making this a safer and healthier community. We will be always at your service, and the Avon Fire Department stands ready to serve you.
Please feel free to stop by the Fire station for a tour of our facilities. We are proud of what has been accomplished in a relatively short period of time. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of you, the residents of the City of Avon.
In the Interest of Public Safety,
David Swope, Fire Chief
