1. What are the different colored paint markings and/or flags that appear on tree lawns and my property? Why aren't I notified before workers make these marks on my property?

Different utilities use colored markings and flags indicating where their cables and pipes are buried. As required by law and prior to any digging that is to occur near these lines, the utilities must be called out to paint markings or flags showing these locations, sometimes even up to the home's connection point. Utility companies have legal easements automatically giving them the right to be on private property. There may be as many as 15 different crews out in numerous sections of the community on any given day. The City is, therefore, unable to provide each resident with notice before the crews start work.

Color codes: RED - Electricity, BLUE - Water, GREEN - Sewer, ORANGE - Cable and Communications, YELLOW - Gas

2. Do you remove branches and other debris from my yard?

The City offers curb side chipping service between April and the middle of October.   You may place your branches out on the tree lawn any day of the week and when the chipping trucks are in the area, they will automatically take care of them.

3. When will you pick up leaves in the fall?

Weather permitting, the trucks will pick up your raked leaves at curbside from the middle of October through the middle of December.

4. Who do I call if there is a street light out?

5. When will Street Department pick up branches?

     The Service Department follows a route and they try to make one full pass throughout the City each week, however, schedules may vary due to how much is out and whether or not other factors come into play.  If you have a lot of branches out, you may contact the Service Department at 440-937-5729, to let them know but we cannot actually prioritize chipping services by pile sizes. 

6. What do I do with yard waste, like my dead plants, leaves and grass clippings?

You may BAG your yard waste for Republic Services using the brown refuge bags and put them out on your trash day.  This service is provided mid-April through the end of November.  After Yard Waste collection season ends, you can bag your yard waste using regular trash bags and place them curbside on BULK TRASH DAY.
