Recently a story was posted on Cleveland.com that the Jensen Administration would like to cohabitate the closing Village Elementary School with the Avon Board of Education.
Apparently, this arranged marriage will last about 4 to 5 years and cost the city $3 million dollars in renovation costs.
Then in about 5 years, a divorce will occur when Avon builds a new City Hall at the tune of an additional $5 million dollars.
Wouldn't $8 millions dollars be better spent towards the cost of building out a city-wide fiber network for all the residents of Avon to enjoy.

This morning the US Supreme Court ruled that double taxation of income is unlawful.
The case before the court involved the state of Maryland who collects income tax off income earned from other states. This parallels our current city income tax system where we work outside Avon (I work in Lorain), but we only receive partial credit on the tax paid elsewhere.
Several cities filed briefs before the court, but the one that concerns us is the City of Cleveland (Ohio) because they have similar tax collection scheme involving work city / resident city income tax collection.
With the Supreme Court finding in the Affirmative and creating precedent, I, therefore, call on Avon City Council to pass a resolution to raise the credit on income earned from 1.5% to match our income tax rate of 1.75%.

I notice all the communities around us (Avon Lake, Westlake, N. Ridgeville) have WOW service available. How about bringing WOW to our town?

I own the property located at the corners of Mills & Jaycox Rds. Which is 13.59 acres. It is presently zoned Industrial. I am in the process of requesting to have it rezoned as Residential. I believe the area no longer supports a large industrial complex. The increased traffic of trucks and cars would overwhelm the area. PLEASE HELP ME CONVINCE THE ZONING COMMISSION THAT THE AREA WOULD BE MORE SUITED RESIDENTIAL THAN INDUSTRIAL..

I think it will be a boost to the city's economy if we are able to get more businesses to open in the area.

We have lived in Avon just over a year. We love it! We think that more unique, non-chain restaurants would be great for our city. Additionally, Avon has 2 Getgo gas stations and no Giant Eagle? I think the vacant property next to the Winking Lizard needs a Giant Eagle and a gas station so the Commons area traffic could be a little less congested. Lastly, the gazebo on Stoney Ridge and Detroit needs to remove the fluorescent lighting! It's beautiful there, but in my opinion an eye sore at night. That area of town could be so cute with a little beautification. Thanks!!

An outlet mall in the Jaycox-Nagel/Chester area would bring outside tourism into the area. The closest outlet shopping is Aurora farms, leaving the entire west Cleveland market as well as Sandusky area driving hours for outlet shopping. The tourists traveling through to Cedar Point are also an audience to be approached.
In addition, it would offer an outside market to help sustain the entertainment industry (Play CLE, Main Event, restaurants, etc) that has been established in the area. It would also bring a large number of jobs and help compete with the ever-expanding Crocker Park.
Access from the Nagel road ramp off 90 would make it easily reachable by consumers.Tanger and Simon would be great companies to approach with the idea of opening a location here.
