Avon Safety Town 2024



Brought to you by the City of Avon Parks & Recreation Department and the Avon Safety Forces, this program is for children ENTERING KINDERGARTEN in the 2024-25 School Year.  The week-long session will take place at the Board of Education Office (36600 Detroit Rd). Each day will focus on a different topic such as fire safety, riding the bus and healthy living.  On Fridays we will celebrate the completion of Safety Town.  Classroom instruction will last one hour and parents are asked to return at that time to join their child(ren) and tour Safety Town.

SPACE IS LIMITED!  The program is open to AVON residents that will be entering KINDERGARTEN in the Fall of 2024.  

The staff will consist of Avon School teachers, Avon Police Officers and high school/college student volunteers.  

You will be emailed information before the program begins on important details regarding drop-off/pick-up, etc. 

**Registration Begins on March 1st at 8:00am and ends May 1st (or when full)

Fee: $30


Parent/guardians join us to celebrate your child and the completion of Safety Town, an opportunity for pictures and to explore Safety Town with your child! 

Park your car in the lot near the playground, bring your Safety Town visor tag and meet at the gates to Safety Town (east of the playground).

Children will be released to parents/guardians at this time.

**Weather permitting**

Don’t forget to have your child bring the following on Friday:

• Wear your safety town t-shirt

• Bike Helmet

• Wear sunscreen

Due to safety, siblings need to be supervised by a parent/guardian and are not permitted to the ride bikes.

Friday -  (Please stay in session you have registered for):

8:00-9:30am (Classroom instruction 8:00-9:00a; Parents 9:00-9:30am)

10:30am-12:00pm (Classroom instruction 10:30-11:30am; Parents 11:30am-12:00pm)

1:00-2:30pm (Classroom instruction 1:00-2:00pm; Parents 2:00-2:30pm)


Is Safety Town Mandatory for children entering Kindergarten?

-No, Safety Town is not mandatory. This program is offered to help children learn critical safety skills.

What age is this program designed for?

-Safety Town is for children entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2023.  Children must be enrolled in Kindergarten.

Is Safety Town available for non-residents?

-Avon Safety Town is for AVON RESIDENTS ONLY due to limited  capacity. If you are a non-resident but will be attending a school in Avon, we can put you on a waitlist.  There will be an additional fee for non-residents.  Please call our office at 440-937-6106.

What should my child bring to Safety Town?

-Each child needs to bring a bike helmet, water bottle, and a change of clothes for emergencies.  More details will be sent out before the program begins.
