The Safety Director in the City of Avon is Duane Streator. Before joining our staff in March of 2020, Duane worked for 33 years in the City of Avon Lake. He started as a Patrol Officer in 1987 and worked his way up the ranks to the position of Police Chief, which he held from 2014 - 2020.
The duties and responsibilities of the Safety Director are numerous, but a brief overview is listed below.
The Safety Director plans for, directs, and oversees the activities of the Divisions of Police, Fire and Building Inspection. The Safety Director directly and indirectly manages personnel within these Divisions to ensure work performance and the provision of services comply with the City and organizational standards. He will also assist with the selection, training and development of the administrative personnel.
The Safety Director also supervises the Traffic Signal/Electrical Manager and Zoning Enforcement Officer.
