Curfew for Minors

Curfew Hours

Curfews for children under the age of eighteen years are as follows:

  • Sunday through Thursday when school is in session curfew is between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • On weekends or when school is not in session, curfew hours are between midnight and 5 a.m.

Valid Curfew Exceptions

Curfew exceptions include:

  • When a minor is accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult over the age of eighteen who has been given the authority by a parent or legal guardian
  • When the minor is legally employed and is traveling directly between his or her home and that employment
  • When the minor is on the sidewalk where he or she resides and is not bothering neighbors
  • When the minor is returning home from a school or community activity, e.g., movie, concert, sporting event, etc.
  • When the minor is, with parental consent, in a motor vehicle.
