To Our Avon Residents,
On January 1, 2010, I began my sixth term in office. I believe the changes that have taken place in the city since the late 1990’s have made Avon a very desirable place to be for our residents as well as for all the varied businesses that make their home here. This new term will allow me to continue serving the community, as my administration and I work to complete many projects that are either underway or on the drawing board.
This year is shaping up as another busy one. This spring will see the opening of the YMCA facility with all its programs and a competitive swimming pool, plus the start of additional sports related facilities that are planned at the recreation complex. Miller Road is scheduled to be rehabilitated and a new concession stand is planned for Schwartz Road Park. The actual construction start date for the new interchange at Nagel Road is still unknown, but the good news is that we have received all of our approvals and the state has moved the project to its “Fast Trac”. Planned for the future is a new City Hall to be built behind the police and fire departments to better serve our community as it continues to grow.
I am proud to say that I am the fourth generation of my family to call Avon home. I have seen the city grow from one of the best farming communities in Ohio to a very progressive city with a great school system, expanding services and a very steady tax base. I feel our city is a great place to live and work.
We at City Hall constantly strive to maintain and improve upon the quality of life Avon offers. You can learn more about us by accessing our website at www.cityofavon.com or by reading the 2010/2011 edition of our Community Guide that was just mailed to all residents early in January.
Sincerely,
